Soccer can be traced back to England in the early 1800’s. A number of countries say they can trace soccer back to themselves, but we’re talking about the modern game and the guidelines associated with it. In all likelihood there were many variations of the game dating back to ancient times.
Another great story involves the beheading of an 8th century Prince of Denmark. The story states that the people used his head as the ball when they played the game. They say laws were passed preventing citizens from playing because the sport was created after harm was caused to that individual.
Generally speaking modern soccer can be traced to England in the 1800’s and it was played by the upper class. Soccer then made its way to the common classes when its popularity grew.
